42 seems a strange number to finish on, yet it was totally out of my control. As i sit on a plane to Mexico i know it is the end, any aspiration for 50 now a distant memory. Its significance completely blurring the moment i saw him. My journey took 6 years, 1 month and 4 days, it's scenes playing out across 42 countries. The naive, wide eyed young man who stepped onto that flight to Italy on August 1, 2012 is now a distant memory. He has showed me more strength, bravery and courage than i could of ever anticipated. He is now my personal hero. From machetes in the depths of the Colombian jungle, to swimming with sea lions amongst the islands of the Galapagos. From a sunrise with elephants in Kenya, to a sunset shared with a viper snake in Sri Lanka. From giggles at the birthplace of Christ to tears in Hagia Sofia. They were moments even my greatest advocates had, at times, struggled to believe. On April 14, 2018 i went for tacos with a man i will eventually marry. It was a series of unfortunate events that led me to that city on that day, but as soon as he smiled i knew it was over. No more would i chase sunsets, my only option now to chase that smile. No longer would i chase answers, because i didn't need them anymore. Today is the end of one adventure and the start of a new existence, a 6 year search for the meaning of life having eventually led me to the only thing i ever needed. Love.
